Sobbing, sobbing robin
Under leaves so old,
In the plain white snow.
'Why are thou sobbing?'
Merry, merry sparrow
I hear them say that
On the distant hill
Her wings are clipped
And her feet are tied
And her eyes are caged.
I know t'was my fault,
For I did not forgive her
It was my fault,
Because there was no Mercy.
(Inspired by Caged Bird by Maya Angelou; a mirror poem to The Blossom by W. Blake in Songs of Innocence)
