The Window

You gaze intently into the crystal pane
Examining the world beyond the barrier
You see a man, one who goes by no name
And the purest of hearts is what he bears

You watch him - his every thought, his every move
You watch slowly slip into anxiety as
You watch them win, you watch him lose
You watch him fall into the clutches of society

You see a fresh man, face devoid of Soul
You see him march the streets, living to conform
You see his faith tainted, his loss of control
You can’t help but see obliteration take form

You squint as rays of light strike the glass
And you hear a piercing scream, so cold
For the window was not of the world
But a window to your dwindling soul
